Syllabus Overview
Unit – I (Ghazal Section)
This section carries 14 marks.
Students have to prepare four ghazals each from the following poets:
- Hali
- Hasrat
- Fani
- Shad
- Yas Yagana Changezi
- Asghar
- Firaq
Prescribed Ghazals Include:
- مجھ کو معلوم ہے جنت کی حقیقت لیکن
- جو غم نصیب ہوا ہے
- آنے کے ہیں کیا آثار
- دل میں زخموں کے نشاں
- ہم سے نازاں نہ ہوا

Unit – II: Critical Questions on Ghazal (12 Marks)
Topics include:
- Definition and characteristics of Ghazal as Gehre.
- Life and works of the prescribed poets.
- Popularity of Ghazal in modern times.
Unit – III: Prose (Afsana) – 12 Marks
Students must prepare the following short stories for detailed study:
- Panch Parmeshwar – Munshi Prem Chand
- Aulaad – Saadat Hasan Manto
- Kalu Bhangi – Saadat Hasan Manto
- Lajwanti – Rajinder Singh Bedi
- Dhakosla – Ismat Chughtai
Unit – IV: Critical Questions on Short Stories – 12 Marks
Topics include:
- Definition and characteristics of short story as a genre
- Life and works of the prescribed authors
- Critical appreciation of individual stories
Unit – V: Objective Type Questions – 10 Marks
This section contains multiple-choice questions from all the above units to test overall understanding.
