🎯 Objective
The aim of this paper is to introduce students to the Arabic language, its grammar, prose, and poetry, and to develop their understanding of classical and modern Arabic literature. The course is designed to build reading, translation, and comprehension skills along with grammatical accuracy.

Unit I: Prose (النثر العربي)
Selections from classical and modern Arabic prose with emphasis on comprehension and translation.
Prescribed texts may include:
- قصص من الأدب العربي (Stories from Arabic Literature)
Selected passages from writers such as:
الجاحظ (Al-Jahiz)- أحمد أمين (Ahmad Amin)
- طه حسين (Taha Hussein)

- Comprehension and translation from Arabic to English and vice versa.

Unit II: Poetry (الشعر العربي)
Study of selected poems from classical and modern Arabic poets.

Unit III: Grammar (النحو والصرف)

- Gender and Number (المذكر والمؤنث – المفرد والمثنى والجمع)
- Nominal and Verbal Sentences (الجملة الاسمية والجملة الفعلية)
- Pronouns, Prepositions, and Verb Conjugations
- Tenses (Past, Present, Imperative)
Unit IV: Translation (الترجمة)
- Translation of unseen passages from Arabic to English and vice versa.
- Practice in grammatical sentence formation.
- Comprehension-based short questions.
Unit V: Composition & Comprehension (الإنشاء والفهم)
- Writing short essays on simple topics (e.g., My Family, My College, The Importance of Education, etc.).
- Unseen comprehension passages.
- Vocabulary building and usage.
📄 Note for Paper Setter
- The question paper will consist of 10 questions, two from each unit.
- Students will attempt five questions selecting one from each unit.
- All questions carry equal marks.
- Internal choice will be available within each unit.
